Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology - Campus
The Ph.D. program in Kinesiology has a community ‐ based focus recognized
as ensuring the wellbeing of both individuals and the collective at the local,
national, and international levels. Graduates will be prepared to provide the
resources necessary to sustain the community and will be able to supply current
and/or novel ideas and knowledge. This community ‐ based focus in a Kinesiology
program is not represented in any other existing program in Canada. Students
will be required to complete four courses, one of which is a community ‐ based internship. The
internship will encourage the integration of our students into ongoing
community initiatives, enhance responsibility for meeting the needs of others
while improving overall well ‐ being of Canadians, and encourage students to utilize
previously acquired skills, while gaining new abilities, appropriate to their
internship setting.

I was prepared to begin my career in the sports industry because of my experience in the UWindsor Sport Management program. Originally following the Movement Science side, I remember enrolling in a Sport Management class as an elective and my mindset completely shifted. I loved it! The classes and projects prepared me for my daily responsibilities proving that the curriculum provided by the faculty continues to be at the forefront of sport business education. The internship opportunity played a pivotal role in landing my first job after graduation with the Calgary Flames and has given me the skills to develop into the professional I am today.

My experience in the Sport Management program at UWindsor provided me with valuable skills that I use every day in my position as the Corporate Events Coordinator for the Ottawa Senators. Not only are students engaged by professors who are experts in their respective fields, but they are also aided by way of volunteer experiences and presentations from exemplary sport industry professionals. Due to the small class sizes, I was able to connect with my professors and develop lasting relationships that extended beyond graduation.
